Something out of perspective often causes the eye to draw back for a second look.
When I pulled out my trusty Motorola Zine phone to snap this picture, I attempted to focus on the first bloom. When I ripped the picture the 2 bottom blooms turned out to be in focus.
Studying the iris blooms I decided I liked the accidental shot. When you first look at the image you think the object dead center should be in focus. When it’s not, the eye roams around trying to find what is.
I feel this idea goes nicely with Tracey’s post today, something that speaks to you. Look beyond what you see first. Something else lies in wait just out of sight.

it’s always nice to get a shot you love purely accidentally!
I agree, I think it make a shot interesting when the focus is not dead center. I also love when a shot you did not intend turns out to be the one.
Beautiful!
Love it!!!
Beautiful shot! Love those flowers, too. They look like my new iris that came up this year only a bit different colors. They are beautiful, aren’t they?
Oh, like your new blog layout, too. Neat!
What beautiful blooms – and I love the surprise your camera gave you. Sometimes those are my favorite shots too.
Great colors!
Gorgeous image and popping color. And thanks for the words reminding me to look beyond.
