One week ago I attended a Friday-Saturday craft fair. As a first time vendor, I wondered if I would even make back my table fee.
Through the gracious goodness of other vendors there I managed to meet that one goal.
Counting out the money at the end of the weekend I could see a grand total of $12 on the good side. Just to make my ego feel a little better, I think my work is better than that.
However, I live in a rural community where knitting, tuperware, and Avon are all winners over handcrafted wire jewelry and Christmas ornaments.
My husband even contributed by pounding out used horseshoes into the shapes of stocking hangers. Talk about industrial strength, they’ll hold 3 pounds easy.
Everyone said how nice, no one bought.
Right now I think I’ll stick with making jewelry for myself and for giveaways.

Well, I’m glad that you did better than break even. I’ve seen pictures of your stuff, and it is lovely!
I am glad you broke even. I love the wire ornaments. I think I might of said this before but I can see how they would look fabulous on a little table top tree placed in a bay window, with the morning light shining on them (at least that’s where I would put it in my house!).
Glad that you were able to make more than the table fee. We went to a local craft two weeks ago. It was at the school that I used to teach at. So many of the vendors that used to be there were gone. I can only guess that with times being tough many people may be limiting the places they set up and/or are out of business. I love the necklace and earrings that you made me from one of the original Bloggy Giveaways
I am sorry that you had such a disappointing time with it. I love the necklace/earrings set you made me!
Breaking even is nice, but as someone who has sold items at a craft fair, actually making some money beyond what you’ve put into it is the icing on the cake. But for us, we never seem to do much beyond our table fees, etc.
ah man! just not the right type of shoppers, i think. i would so buy your stuff! i’m kind of in the same boat – we are going to try to sell our wares at a holiday boutique next week – first time, ever. i’m a little nervous about it.
what about etsy – do you have a shop? then you don’t even have to leave the comforts of your home?
Awww…sorry it didn’t go so well. Since you have stock, why don’t you set up an etsy store with it? There you have a lot broader audience and people who go there actually like handmade stuff. Your hubby did a good job on the stocking holders, too. They are really cool!
