#60 – Fix It Friday

Friday, June 25th, 2010

I admit this image needed a careful strategy because although I love all the sunlight in the background I wanted to bring out the teen in the foreground.

Starting by duplicating the background layer and creating a new levels layer I moved the dark slider over toward the middle canceling out some of the over all light saturating the image.

Then I ran MCP’s touch of light or touch of darkness and used the touch of light on just the teen.

Ctrl+shift+alt+e to create a merged layer and ran CoffeeShop’s Picture Perfect. Changed the opacity of the vignette layer will soften the edge burn.

Moving back down to the original background layer I ran Pioneer Woman’s slight sharpen to bring out just a touch more detail.

And here we are:

A Touch of Fey

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

I followed along with the Love That Shot’s tutorial on In the Fairy Garden pretty faithfully until I got the to the end. I have to say learning this shortcut Press Control + Alt + Shift + E to create merged duplicate layer of what you’ve done so far was a trick I hadn’t learned yet.
So here is my end result.

Then I played a little more.

Fairy Wings from Obsidian Dawn
Butterfly Images from Shoofly@DeviantArt
Floral Brushes from Starwalt
Fonts from Kevin and Amanda
Warmer action from Pioneer Woman

Although the original edit works nicely I tweaked it to add a touch more of summer and give you a few more options on how to use the image if you want to make it your own.

First run the warmer action and make adjustment of the red up a little and the blue down a little.

Opening up the butterfly stock png file and using the marquee tool, rectangle or circle whichever is easiest, copy and paste 3 butterflies into the original image at the top of the layers box. Using ctrl+t resize them and place them how you like. You may have to use the eraser tool to delete any extra image that came along with the butterfly you wanted.

To blend them a little bit more select one image and ctrl+left mouse click then go to select>modify>feather 15 px. Then go select>inverse and hit delete. To fade the images more hit delete several more times. Repeat with each of the selected butterfly images.

Choosing the Pea Sandra Dee font from Kevin and Amanda write summer. Click the fx select blending options and click bevel and emboss then stroke, change the size to 2 the position to center and the color, pick something pink. Select pattern overlay and if you have a pink pattern in there too if you like.

Using the floral wave brush create a new layer underneath the text layer and click once. Click the fx at the bottom or double click the layer to add a layer style and pick blending options. Leaving the defaults click drop shadow, inner shadow, and bevel and emboss. Using the transform tool elongate the image along the bottom.

Click back on the text layer and on the create warped text icon at the top where the little T and arch are and select the flag. My settings are -91, -48, +5.

To bring the original daisies out more go back to the merged and copied layer created original and run the burn brush over them a little more.

What do you think?
I turned it into a 5 x 7.5 inch (2250 x 1500) 300 px resolution for download too.

I’m 1 Today!

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Ok, I literally lost track of everything I did to create this digital scrapbook page. I do know I used a couple freebies from Digital Scrapbooking and DBS.

I browsed through CU Freebies and checked out the Pattern Cooler

The original is an 8 x8 page, 2400 x 2400 with a 300 pixel resolution.

Download the PSD file.
Let me know if the link doesn’t work, my first time using 4 File.

If you like it and use it consider donating a $1.00. Thanks
